The Great Return
After a year of silence, the screens came alive again. The 4th TSFA marked a triumphant return — more entries, more categories, and a creative community hungry to be seen and celebrated.
The Story of the Fourth Edition
2021 was the year the world exhaled. As restrictions eased and creators stepped back into the light, the 4th TSFA became a celebration of everything that had been held back — stories that had been written in lockdown, filmed in isolation, and finally ready to be shared.
The entries that year reflected a community transformed. Filmmakers had used the pandemic to sharpen their craft, experiment with form, and find new ways to tell stories with fewer resources. The result was some of the most inventive, personal work TSFA had ever received.
The 4th edition also saw a significant expansion in the digital track, recognising that the pandemic had permanently shifted how audiences consumed content. Creators who had built audiences online during lockdown found their work celebrated alongside traditional filmmakers for the first time at scale.
"2021 proved that you cannot suppress a storyteller. The pandemic gave them time, and they used every minute of it."
