Coming of Age
Five years in, TSFA had found its voice. The 5th edition drew record entries from across India, a stronger jury, and a creative community that had grown up alongside the awards.
The Story of the Fifth Edition
By 2022, TSFA was no longer a promising newcomer — it was an institution. Five editions in, the awards had built a reputation that drew entries from filmmakers and digital creators across 14 states, each one bringing a distinct regional voice to the national stage.
The 5th edition was marked by a new level of ambition in the entries. Filmmakers who had submitted rough early work in 2018 returned with polished, confident storytelling. Digital creators who had started channels during the pandemic arrived with audiences of hundreds of thousands and craft to match.
The jury that year reflected the awards' growing stature — a panel of industry veterans and digital pioneers who brought both rigour and genuine enthusiasm to the evaluation process. The result was a set of winners that felt, for the first time, truly representative of the full breadth of Indian independent storytelling.
"By the fifth edition, we knew we had built something real. The quality of entries, the calibre of the jury, the energy in the room — it all came together."
