The Standard Rises
The 7th TSFA set a new benchmark — 160+ entries from across India, 18 award categories, and a creative community that had grown into one of the most respected independent storytelling platforms in the country.
The Story of the Seventh Edition
By 2024, TSFA had earned something rare in the Indian independent film and digital space — genuine authority. Filmmakers and creators no longer needed to explain what TSFA was. The 7th edition drew 160+ entries from 16 states, with submissions that reflected a community that had been watching, learning, and raising its own bar year after year.
Two new categories joined the slate in 2024: Best Animated Short Film, recognising the surge of independent animation talent emerging from India's design schools and studios, and Best Micro Film, honouring the art of storytelling in under five minutes — a format that had exploded across digital platforms and deserved its own stage.
The jury deliberations in 2024 were the most contested in TSFA's history. Multiple categories went to a second round of voting. The standard had risen to a point where the difference between a winner and a runner-up was a matter of perspective, not quality — and that, more than any statistic, told the story of where Indian independent storytelling had arrived.
"In 2024, we stopped asking whether independent storytelling in India was ready for the world. The work we saw that year answered the question for us."
